Here at Barnwell Typewriter we think all machines should be treated with the respect they deserve. From cleanings to refurbs, every machine will be treated as our own and with care.

Basic Services

Basic Services Include: Body removal and all rubber, General cleaning of internals, Body, Rollers, Keys, And Slugs + Re-oiling of the machine as needed. No polishing is included in this service. All machines must pass a very detailed test post-service.

Turnaround time for basic services is currently 1-2 months due to a high volume of work needed. If you wish to have a machine serviced, please call or message beforehand so we can ensure there is enough room in the queue.

All Services Are First Come, First Serve By Machine

If you do not wish to have a full cleaning that is included in the basic service and only a Specific issue addressed please let us know.

Refurbishment Services

With this, we go a bit further. Refurbishment Services include: A full teardown of the carriage, body, typebars, a detailed cleaning of the internals, eliminating all grease and dirt, a polishing of the paint and chrome on the outside body, and any needed replacement parts. All machines must pass a very detailed test post-service.

Turnaround time for Refurbishments is currently 2-3 months due to high volume of work needed. If you wish to have a machine serviced, please call or message beforehand so we can ensure there is enough room in the queue.

Restoration Services 

Restoration Services is the most in-depth service we offer. The following is included in this service: Full teardown (Sometimes all the way to the frame), very meticulous cleaning of all components, a very detailed polish of all external paint and chrome. Typebars will also be polished to our best effort. If a repaint is deemed necessary, it will be cleared with the customer beforehand.

Turnaround time for Restoration Services is currently 3+ months, as this work is so tedious, we do not like to rush. If you wish to have a machine serviced, please call or message beforehand so we can ensure there is enough room in the queue.

Paint Services

If a repaint is requested, or needed for a machine, we have several options! From black to pink, we can do it! We offer Glossy, Matte, and several other finishes. Multicolored options are also available!

Turnaround time currently is 1 month. Please call or message so we can chat about what paint job you would like!

1.  No machine can ever be "Perfect". We will always try our best to get your machine looking, and typing like it's 1940 again. But these machines will always have age-related wear that sometimes is permanent. This can be observed with every model, and almost every machine.

2. Rust... We all hate it, and we will try our best to remove it. But rust permanently alters metal, meaning without replacements, that damage will always be there. Rust damage is, however, hideable with things such as paint.

3. Turnaround time may be faster or slower than listed times. It all varies on current workload and the state of the machine. Quicker/easier jobs may be bumped to the front for a faster turnaround time overall.
